as Primate of the country. He suspends 11 leaders of the Priests' Peace
Movement and orders them to leave the capital immediately. |

Cardinal Mindszenty delivers a speech in which he
describes the situation as fight for freedom. |

Cardinal Mindszenty gives a speech on the radio at 10

Mindszenty seeks political asylum in the American embassy. His diocese
is governed by his vicar-general, Béla Witz. 31 December
